Wanda Moody Boatright departed this life on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at home with family by her side.
Wanda was born July 2, 1935 to Lillian and Lutha Groover and was a lifelong resident of Liberty County. She graduated from Bradwell in1953 and married her soul mate, Jimmie Moody shortly after. They had 43 years together until his death in 1997. Later she would find love again marrying Earl Boatright becoming a “coast woman” for 17 years until his death in 2015.
Wanda was a member of Gum Branch Baptist Church. She retired from Coastal Utilities after forty-three years of service. She enjoyed camping, fishing the Ogeechee, and attending blue grass festivals with friends. Wanda was a wonderful cook; her table was always full for whomever might stop in. She had a nurturing spirit always offering words of encouragement to her children and grandchildren. She was their Mamma Tink. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; brother, Shelby Groover; step-son, Marty Boatright; step-daughter, Frances Alverson; and grandson, Matt Armbrister.
Those left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Angie Elam (Earl); two sons, Mike Moody (Teri) and Jeff Moody (Jeneth); sister, Laura Smiley (Mack); eight grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; two great- great grandchildren; two step-sons, Wilson Boatright ((Angie) and Dale Boatright (Jackie); six step-grandchildren; eight step-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Honoring her wishes, a graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Gum Branch Baptist Church cemetery at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary immediately following the service.
