William “Billy” Allen Chakmak, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 3, 2022.
Billy was born October 11, 1954 in Barberton, Ohio to parents, Bill David and Donna (Jolly) Chakmak. Billy’s family moved to Townsend, Georgia when he was a young boy. He spend most of his time in the outdoors, and loved being on the river. Billy attended school in McIntosh County. He had many jobs including, a volunteer firefighter for McIntosh County and Bryan County, and a first responder for those counties also. Billy loved being a public servant and was always willing to help anyone in need. He had just retired on May 10, 2021 from the Georgia Forestry Commission where he was a Wild Land Ranger I. After retirement Billy enjoyed spending time with his family and continuing to work in the outdoors. He will be greatly missed by many. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Frances Elizabeth (Amason) Chakmak.
Billy is survived by two sons, Bill David Chakmak and William Glen Chakmak of Midway, Georgia; his sister, Suzanna Marie Mandato (Tony) of McIntosh County and two nieces, Brandy Spaeth (Larry) of Minnesota and Melissa Gordon (Mark) of McIntosh County.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Dorchester Presbyterian Church with Rev. Greg Loskowski officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorchester Cemetery.
