William H. Glisson, affectionately known as Billy, entered eternal rest on December 30, 2024, at the age of 89. A devoted servant of Christ, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, William’s life was a beautiful testament to faith, family, and selfless love.
Born on August 30, 1935, in Savannah, Georgia, to Howard and Gussie (Weir) Glisson, William lived a life filled with dedication and integrity. He proudly served his country in the National Guard before embarking on a long and successful career with Tetley Tea, where he was admired for his work ethic and commitment.
William’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his children, William H. Glisson and his wife Phyllis of Guyton; Richard K. Glisson and his wife Mada of Waverly; and Pamela E. Young and her husband Tracy of Midway. As a grandfather, he cherished his role with Roxanne Miller and her husband Colt, Corey Glisson and his wife Heather, Christopher Young and his wife Kali, Jessica Young, and Demi Glisson. His legacy continues through his beloved great-grandchildren: Corbin and Charlie Young, Olivia and Natalie Glisson, and Lilliana Miller.
A man of unwavering faith, William was deeply devoted to Christ and his church, where he served with humility and love. His compassion and kindness were evident in his actions and words, inspiring all who knew him to walk a life of faith and service.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lynda, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership. Their bond, rooted in faith, was an example of devotion and unity, and their reunion in heaven provides solace to those who mourn.
A celebration of William’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Midway First Baptist Church, with Rev. J.C. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Lower Black Creek Cemetery in Ellabell. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be William’s sons, Billy and Ricky Glisson; his son-in-law, Tracy Young; and his grandsons, Christopher Young and Corey Glisson.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate doctors and nurses at Coastal Manor, whose care and kindness during William’s final days brought great comfort.
William H. Glisson’s legacy of faith, love, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His steadfast spirit and devotion to his family and faith continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
