Willis Crane, 81, was called home on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his home surrounded by family while under the care of hospice.
Willis was born April 1, 1943 in Cleveland, Georgia to parents, Talmadge and Elma Crane. The family moved to the Liberty County area when Willis was a young boy. Willis grew up in Hinesville, where he attended Bradwell Institute. He was always a hard worker and in his spare time he enjoyed playing pool and fishing. Willis married the love of his life, Betty Walden, July 17, 1962. Willis retired from Interstate Paper Company in 2004 after 36 years of service. He will be greatly missed by his family and close friends.
Willis is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Crane; sons, Allen (Tammy Dee) and Kevin (Vivian); two granddaughters, Kaci (Charlie) Smiley and Jeci (Phillip) Bohannon; four great grandchildren, Ian Rollins, Lexi Smiley, Charlie Smiley and Beau Bohannon; five siblings, Polly (Bill), Charles, Larry, Louise (Edward) and Jerry (Brenda); nieces and nephews and other extended family members.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at 7:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior at Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home Chapel in Flemington. Rev. Jimmy Walden will be eulogizing the service.
